Star Trek News

Jason Isaacs as the new captain…? Not sure about a new series right now since the movies are doing so good unless they get the reboot cast to do a new series. I have a love/hate relationship with the Star Trek t.v. series. I know a lot of people didn’t like Star Trek Voyager even though I did. It was Deep Space Nine that I didn’t like. So I’m kind of all over the board when it comes to Star Trek. I’ll give it at least a couple of episodes before I make a final decision. Let’s see what Isaacs can do.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) Directed by James Gunn I was very excited when the previews first came out for the film, but after seeing it, I’m not sure where I stand. It did indeed have great moments, like baby Groot with a death button… but we had already seen that in the previews. The movie opens with a great dance that has Groot dancing around, but it seemed very drawn out and much longer than it needed to be. Ghost in the Shell

Ghost in the Shell (2017) Paramount Pictures/DreamWorks As a longtime fan of Ghost in the Shell the Anime I was very excited to get the chance to finally see the film this past weekend. There were many aspects of the anime that made it into the film. One such feature is the dives that the major does. The scenes were beautifully rendered and breathed life into an anime world. Scarlett Johansson did a great job as Major, but I think that Pilou Asbaek’s portray of Batou really was the stand out performance. Just as a fan I was more than a little sad that the Tachikomas were not in the film. I think that they could have brought a lightness to the heavy emotions surrounding human vs. machine that were in the film. The sound track was also a letdown. I was hoping that the music for it would have been as strong as the anime’s. The Stand Alone Complex opening is one of my all-time favorites and I was hoping that they would have at least paid an homage to it. Overall the movie was great...
